On May 29th, the world's largest single-unit photovoltaic project successfully connected the 3.5GW solar PV project in Midong, Xinjiang, to the grid, signifying that the operational capacity of the green energy industry has surpassed tens of millions, officially entering the "tens of millions of installed capacity" ranks.
The Midong project in Xinjiang, situated in the northern desert of the Midong District of Urumqi City, spans an area of approximately 200,000 mu. With a utilization time of 1740 hours, it annually produces 6.09 billion kilowatt-hours of power, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 3 million households. Upon completion, the project is poised to annually save 1.9488 million tons of raw coal, curtail carbon dioxide emissions by 6.0717 million tons, diminish smoke and dust by about 1.6565 million tons, and slash nitrogen oxides by about 91,000 tons. This endeavor holds significant importance in assisting the country in attaining its "dual carbon" strategic objectives, expediting the optimization of the local energy structure, and fostering the development of the power market.
The project is sited in a desert area with expansive coverage and distinct features such as strong winds, sand, and loose soil. Since the commencement of construction, numerous challenges have arisen, including collapsed pile driving and vehicles getting stuck in the sand. Recognizing the importance of these challenges, the project management team and operating personnel have implemented standardized and viable construction plans tailored to the unique terrain. This approach fully considers factors such as the wind pressure resistance of solar panel components, the depth of pile foundations, and material selection. Continuous optimization has been undertaken across various aspects, including photovoltaic brackets, foundations, on-site lines, and construction plans, to effectively address the distinctive environment of the desert.
Since the commencement of construction in September 2023, China Green Power Company has mobilized various participating units to enact the new era's strategy for governing Xinjiang, adhering closely to planning guidance while reinforcing overall planning. The company has prioritized safeguarding the local ecological environment, systematically and methodically advancing project construction, and actively promoting the realization of the concept that "green mountains and clear waters are golden and silver mountains".
Throughout the construction process, to minimize environmental impact, the photovoltaic components were strategically assembled along the slope. At certain construction points where the height difference reaches up to twenty to thirty meters, installation and construction pose significant challenges. In response to the myriad difficulties encountered during project construction, China Green Power Company has mobilized management personnel and relevant business experts. They have coordinated various participating units to proactively explore routes, clarify ideas, and transition from a passive to an active approach. This proactive stance includes restructuring schedules and operations, continuously optimizing construction plans and workflows, and providing daily reports on construction progress, along with daily summaries and reviews.
During the peak period of accelerated construction, management personnel and operating teams have maintained a "day and night" work mode at the construction site, ensuring the project's safety throughout. This comprehensive approach underscores the company's commitment to executing the project efficiently while upholding environmental standards and promoting sustainable energy solutions, including the utilization of solar panels and pv modules that align with the principles of cost-effectiveness and quality.
The successful grid connection of the 3.5GW photovoltaic project in Midong, Xinjiang, represents a pivotal milestone for China Green Power Company in advancing the nation's new energy security strategy. This achievement holds profound significance for the company's objectives during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, facilitating the robust, premium, and expansive growth of the green energy sector. Leveraging this triumph, China Green Power Company is poised to expedite the development and deployment of projects, as well as the augmentation of resources.
In line with this, the company aims to surpass 20 million kilowatts of installed capacity by year-end, along with acquiring resources exceeding 20 million kilowatts. This strategic endeavor underscores the company's commitment to scaling up its operations and cementing its leadership position in the renewable energy landscape. With a focus on optimizing efficiency and efficacy, China Green Power Company is primed to capitalize on this momentum to drive innovation and excellence across the entire spectrum of solar energy solutions, including the deployment of cutting-edge solar panels, pv modules, and custom solar solutions. Through strategic partnerships and a relentless pursuit of excellence, the company is poised to set new benchmarks for the industry, ensuring access to affordable and top-tier solar technologies that advance sustainability goals while fostering economic growth.
