Saudi Arabia signs a 15GW new energy project (August 4th)
Saudi Arabia has signed seven new power purchase agreements for solar and wind energy projects, with a total installed capacity of 15GW and an investment of approximately 8.3 billion US dollars, accelerating the energy transition.
The United States has imposed a 25% tariff on India
Trump announced that a 25% tariff would be imposed on all Indian imports starting from August 1st, which may impact India's photovoltaic module exports to the United States. Previously, India was regarded as a key player in replacing China's supply chain. This move may further restrict the tax-exempt supply channels for US photovoltaic projects.
Component price hikes and production scheduling adjustments
Price increase update: The price range of TOPCon modules has risen to 0.63-0.70 yuan /W (up 0.02 yuan /W from July), and leading enterprises such as JA Solar and GCL have adjusted their prices twice within half a month. Some manufacturers have suspended the delivery of low-price contracts and asked customers to accept the new price of 34.
Production scheduling reduction: Domestic component production scheduling in August dropped to 45-49GW (a decrease of approximately 10% compared to the previous month), mainly due to a reduction in off-season orders and technological transformation of production lines.
Bidding and winning bid prices
Huadian Group has initiated a 20GW module centralized procurement: including TOPCon (18GW) and HJT/BC high-efficiency modules (2GW), with an efficiency requirement of over 23.8%.
Guangdong Energy Project: The winning bid price for components is 0.7215-0.7255 yuan /W, and the average price for centralized EPC is 2.16 yuan /W.
Distributed photovoltaic
Gansu Jingchuan County Project: Passed production acceptance and entered the operation stage 10.
Yunnan Zhaoyang Logistics Park Project: 5.4MW installed capacity, using 720Wp double-glass modules and string inverters.
Expansion of technology application
Sunshine Water Surface Photovoltaic has launched a customized solution for the Philippines, adapting to rough waters with strong winds and waves, and the system's carrying capacity has been increased by 44%.
Short-term challenges: Differentiation in off-season demand (concentrated demand is stronger than distributed demand), intensification of trade barriers (US-India tariffs), and the phenomenon of manufacturers "breaking contracts" due to cost pressure 37.
Long-term momentum: The large order from Saudi Arabia has driven the increase of global orders. The breakthrough in the efficiency of tandem cells has accelerated the commercialization of N-type technology. The domestic bidding scale remains at a high level (such as 20GW from Huadian), supporting the medium-term demand of 169.
